Buyers Club Direct: This Week’s Order!

Thanks for being a new or returning buyers club member!  This week’s  order is open for business!  Place your order on-line anytime before Friday at noon and pick it up on Saturday or Sunday before 2 PM.  Include items from the fresh produce offerings and we’ll harvest them Saturday morning to include in your pick up.  There’s many varieties of tomatoes, peppers, eggplant and local corn again this week. Try out your favorite corn recipe on Long Island’s own non-GMO sweet bi-colored corn from Sep’s Farm, harvested each week on Friday evening. 

The way it works is simple:  

  • Request a buyers club membership if you don’t have one already.  
  • Access Buyers Club Direct online any time from Tuesday to Friday noon.
  • Choose the items you want us to harvest or gather and we’ll have them packaged and ready in the farm stand for you.  
  • Come to the farm on Saturday or Sunday between 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM to pick up your order.

The Buyers Club Order is Open

Time for a new buyers club order!

The deadline for this order is Tuesday, Sept. 13th.

Please feel free to respond to this email or reach out to us at any time with requests for items you do not see.  We have access to a vast natural foods wholesaler’s catalog.

The pick-up day at the farm will be on Saturday, Sept 17th  from 9 to 6 or Sunday, Sept. 18th from 10 to 2.

 


 

Splitting-up helpers are needed! Please email Claudia if you can be there to help on  Sept 16th. 

Please use our web-based ordering system to place your order.  This enables all of us to see which items have enough buyers to be included.  Information about each item is visible in real time.  We hope this both encourages each of you to select items to order and to see which items are fully allocated or will be soon with your election or elections of the item by others.

  5. Click “Buy/Review” to see who has purchased the item and/or to purchase the item yourself.
  6. Click “Buy” to purchase the item in the unit amount indicated.
  7. Click “Sell” to remove an item you previously purchased.
  8. You can click “Buy” for as many shares as you wish to buy.
  9. If all shares for an item are purchased, you can click “Buy into a new case”.  A new set of shares will appear with one of them indicated as purchased by you.
  10. If enough shares are purchased for an item to complete the full case and one of the buyers is you, the system will indicate that your purchase is going to occur.
  11. To review your order, click “My Order”

We Wish David Good Luck in his Coming School Year!
David Gambino has been a long time volunteer and a farm assistant during this spring and summer season here at Crossroads farm. He’s an integral part of the farm and has helped develop and implement many new programs including a cover cropping and mulching program and a new row spacing system. David is majoring in Sustainable Agriculture Systems at Delaware Valley University, we wish him continued success in his sophomore year.  His diligence and hard work will be missed. We look forward to next year to see what innovative and new ideas he brings to the farm!

Try a New Corn Recipe !

Corn is available this Saturday at the Farmers Market tables and Wednesday through Sunday in the farm stand. Please stop by and purchase Long Island’s Best bi-colored corn and try out this spicy corn recipe:

Spicy Corn on the Cob with Lime Butter

 

Ingredients

 

    • 4 large fresh corn on the cob, shucked
    • 3 tablespoons butter
    • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
    • zest of 1 lime
    • 1 lime, quartered
    • 1/2 teaspoon of salt, plus more for finishing
    • ground cayenne and/or pepper to taste, optional
    • minced fresh parsley, optional

 

Directions

  1. In a small pot combine  butter, lime zest, salt and red pepper flakes. If using, add pepper and/or cayenne. Once butter has melted, stir, turn off heat and let ingredients steep.
  2.  Add corn to a pot of boiling water well salted. Boil for 6 to 7 minutes, uncovered. Remove from heat, and set aside. Drizzle butter mixture over ears of corn and finish with a squeeze of lime, a pinch of salt and a sprinkle of parsley.

Buyers Club direct – 08/02/2016

 

Thanks for being a new or returning buyers club member!  This week’s  order is open for business!  Place your order before Friday at noon and pick it up on Saturday before 2 PM.  Include items from the fresh produce offerings and we’ll harvest them Saturday morning to include in your pick up.  You can’t get fresher than that!

There’s also many Long Island local and organic products to choose from including Crossroads own honey, Northfork potato chips, Seth’s sauerkraut, Crimson and Clove spice mix, Firecider and more!

There’s lots of Non-GMO, Long Island sweet corn from Sep’s Farm, harvested each week on Friday evening. Additionally, there’s plenty of local varieties of tomatoes available too!

The way it works is simple:  

  • Request a buyers club membership if you don’t have one already.  
  • Access Buyers Club Direct online any time from Tuesday to Friday noon.
  • Choose the items you want us to harvest and we’ll gather from the farm stand for you.  
  • Come to the farm on Saturday between 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM to pick up your order.
  • Pay at our farm-stand or farmers market table with cash or credit card.
