Adelphi Students Visit the Farm

Crossroads Farm welcomed Dr. Robert Linné of Adelphi’s Ammon School of Education on Friday, September 11, 2020 along with 14 of his students who are studying to be high school teachers.

This collaboration with Adelphi is just one of the many farm based education opportunities Crossroads Farm offers to its community. In this particular case, Dr. Linné’s class was studying Place-Based Learning, and what better place to foster a sense of place in their community than at Crossroads Farm.

Dr. Linné witnessed a common reaction in his students that we often experience here at the farm. “I truly believe I saw student body language change as they dropped months of pent-up anxiety wandering between the cabbages and the carrots. By the end of our session they were laughing and relaxed. The students compared this ‘class environment’ favorably to their traditional classrooms.”

A big shout-out to Dr. Linné and his students!!!  Their willingness to dig in the dirt and pull weeds in our Magic Children’s garden was much appreciated!
