Upcoming Fundraisers in 2018
Mark your calendar and join us for one or all of our fundraisers. There’s something for everyone in our new Barnyard Event Series. We’re adding new food and beverage vendors, lots of exciting activities, different and fresh local bands, and more entertainment. Please note that our first Farm to Table dinner has been rescheduled to Saturday, October 27th, ticket prices, event, and menu details to follow shortly.

Annual Wine Tasting Event – A Night Under the Stars!

 

The Malverne Civic Association and Crossroads Farm are hosting their annual wine event on Friday, Sept. 21st from 7 – 9 PM. Join your friends and neighbors for a night of entertainment, light hors d’oeuvres and wine tasting. You’ll be entertained by the music of  T Minus Ten, while you sip wine and enjoy the beauty of the outdoors at Crossroads Farm. We hope you can join us for a final hurrah to summer!

The farm stand will be open on Monday, Sept 3rd – Labor Day from 10 AM – 3 PM. Stop in to get any of your last minute Labor Day BBQ needs.

 

We have local corn and other fresh summer produce at the farm this weekend. Here’s what you can expect:

Crossroads Farm’s:

Don’t give up on your home garden, Long Island has a great Autumn growing season. We have Fall seedlings including:

Come join us at the farm and enjoy a day outside while you get your hands dirty. We are maintaining the fields, sowing seeds, planting, transplanting and harvesting.  Join us and help us grow, learn some farming and biodynamic skills while you mingle with the staff and other volunteers.

Our Next Food Truck Rodeo is Almost Here!

 The final Food Truck Rodeo of the season is fast approaching.

Get ready for lots of outdoor fun. There’s family fun for all including hayrides, corn hole games, a bouncy house and face painting for the kids. Adults can enjoy craft beer from local breweries including Lithology, Flying Belgian, and Barrier breweries. There’s also wine from Long Island’s Beverage Brokers.   We have food from many of your fan favorites along with some new additions. Check out Green Street, Cheezy Pete’s, Empanada Queen, Elizabeth Walker, Ed’s Polish Kielbasa, Juice Drive Juice Truck, and Kona Ice.

They’ll be entertainment by the School of Rock band of Long Island.

Tickets for the Food Truck Rodeo may be purchased in advance  at the Farm stand or may be purchased at the door.

Many Annuals and Perennials Still Available for Your Garden

Many plants and flowers available at the farm this weekend, purchase  roses, annuals including  impatiens, marigolds, begonias, portulaca, petunias, and more. Buy annuals by the flat or single cell. We also have a variety of hanging baskets including impatiens, petunias, and geraniums.  Please stop in to purchase these beautiful flowers for your home and garden. 

 

Attention Landscapers and Home Gardeners: Crossroads Farm’s Own Compost

Crossroads Farm has taken one more step in being earth-friendly!  Our 5-Gallon compost bags are now being sold in reusable burlap, With each purchase, there is one less plastic bag being used.  The bags are an additional $2 deposit you will get back upon return.  Inside is the same five gallons of our great local organic compost.

Support your local farm by providing revenue for the current growing season. This revenue goes towards the purchase of soil, seeds, and other farming supplies. Sales of 2018 CSA Booklets ends on July 3rd.

Here’s how Crossroads Farm Consumer Supported Agriculture (CSA) works:

  • Purchase your CSA booklet at $50 and receive $55 worth of coupons.
  • Purchase your CSA booklet at $100 and receive $110 worth of coupons.
  • Use your CSA coupons for purchases in the farm stand.

Additionally, customers using their CSA booklets get a 10% discount on all their farm stand purchases.

Clean Up and Recycle Day at the Farm

 

 

My name is Lindsey and I’m interning at Crossroads farm this summer. I’m hosting a clean-up and recycle day on Tuesday, July 17th from 9 AM – 11 AM at the farm. We’ll be collecting trash and debris in and around the fields and property. We will separate each waste product into separate categories for proper recycle and disposal.  You’ll also learn a little bit about composting while you’re here. Please dress for the day and wear proper sun-protection. Please also bring your own reusable water bottles.

Join us tonight for our first Food Truck Rodeo of the season!

They’ll be wine and spirits from Long Island Beverage Brokers.   The food trucks that will be participating for this event: Empanada Queen, Good Eats Grill, Mr. Smith’s Seafood, and Frozen Sin.  

They’ll be entertainment by the Stagecoach Band of Long Island.

Come explore some of Malverne’s hidden gems. Many of your neighbors have generously opened their gardens for your enjoyment. Start at Crossroads Farm to get your program and map. Tour the specific locations and enjoy the beautiful home gardens of Malverne.  Also tour the Teaching Garden and Herb Spiral at Crossroads before concluding with light refreshments at the Farm.

Many plants and flowers available at the farm this weekend, purchase  roses, annuals including  impatiens, marigolds, begonias, portulaca, petunias, and more. Buy annuals by the flat or single cell. We also have a variety of hanging baskets including impatiens, petunias, and geraniums.  Please stop in to purchase these beautiful Spring flowers for your home and garden. 

There’s also a variety of organic herbs to purchase including basil, thyme, rosemary, oregano, catmint, mint & more.

REMINDER -Volunteer Opportunities in June

 

 

Come join us at the farm and enjoy a day outside while you get your hands dirty. We are preparing the fields, sowing seeds, planting,  transplanting and harvesting.  Join us to help get the fields growing and learn some farming skills while you mingle with the staff and other volunteers. If getting your hands dirty is not your thing, you may also help at our next fundraiser the Food Truck Rodeo on Friday, June  15th.

 

 

On Tuesday, June 12th from 9:30am – 11:30am, Field 1 preparation and maintenance.

On Friday, June 15th from 8am – 10am, transplant Calendula flowers

On Friday, June 15th from 4:30 PM – 9:30 PM, event help – Food Truck Rodeo

On Thursday, June 21st from 3:00pm – 5:00pm, work with strawberries

On Tuesday, June 26th from 8:00am – 10am, harvest what’s ready!

On Thursday, June 29th from 9:00 am – 11:00 am, trellis tomatoes
