Happy Easter and Happy Passover!
These are tough times for all of us and finding fresh, local food items can be challenging.
Crossroads Farm is pleased to announce that we will be teaming up with G&G Long Island Farmer’s Market to host a pop-up market at the Farm on Saturday, April 18th, from 9 to 1. The event will include numerous local food vendors who source across Long Island and the Hudson Valley. Crossroads will also be selling our garden-ready seedlings and local honey. Once the list of participating merchants and producers is firmed up over the next few days, we will send an update.
Please join us for this local market event coming right up on Saturday, April 18th! This is the first opportunity to pick up farm seedlings and will support the local market purveyors we are hosting.
Holding this market (and others to be announced) aligns with our plans for limiting public events during this time of social distancing and conforms to CDC and State of New York guidelines. The food products will be individually packaged and the folks at the tables will be wearing masks and asking customers to shop at each table one at a time. Please be respectful of others as you visit the farm, do not come in groups, and consider wearing a mask. As previously reported and to bolster the safety of our staff and community, the farm is generally closed to visitors and that policy will continue until further notice.
Meanwhile, seeding and field work are well underway!
For greenhouse work, we owe particular thanks to our amazing executive volunteer, Kathy Francos. Kathy has provided great greenhouse management and has worked tirelessly to get seeds into trays.

In the field, in addition to our lead farm hand Rowdy, we have Rich, Frank and Joe who are busy prepping and planting.

If you visit the market on Saturday, you will meet our farm operations manager, Nella Stranieri. She was pivotal in making the pop-up market happen. Her role for the season will be field and market management. She comes to us from the Cornell Cooperative Extension where she worked as retail manager in their Taste of New York satellite store and trained as a Master Gardener. We also want to welcome Susan Salem who will be working with Leonore Russell and the education team to oversee and grow our ever-expanding education program. Susan’s background includes a stint at Restoration Farm in Old Bethpage.
