See What’s at the Farmstand This Weekend!

We have a small supply of our own strawberries this weekend. Stop in early and get these sweet and delicious local strawberries.

Try some of our many local produce and products:

Papa’s Country Porch – we have a limited amount of new flavors in pies: peach, mixed berry, apple blueberry and all time favorites: apple, blueberry and apple raspberry. We also have crumb cakes pieces (plain or blueberry) and cookies (chocolate chip or oatmeal raisin).

REMINDER – for the weekend of the Food Truck Rodeo (6/16) we will be getting in apple cider donuts and apple fritters.
We just got in this week, pickled KALE made by Shpickles.
Duck eggs are back by popular demand. Sourced from Iacono Farm in South Hampton.
If you like spicy pickles, we just got in some from Brooklyn Brine.

Beautify your Garden this Weekend!

Roses, Roses, Roses and  much more! Select from Knock-Out, Floribunda, and Tea Rose varieties. Additionally there are annuals including impatiens, marigolds, begonias, pansies, and more. Buy annuals by the flat or single cell. We also have a variety of hanging baskets including impatiens, petunias, and fuschias.  Purchase beautiful urns and floor baskets planted and ready to display. They’ll make a welcome appearance in any entryway. Please stop in to purchase all these beautiful flowers for your home garden.

New Kitchen Building:  We Broke Ground!

The blueprints are off the drawing board, the foundation is poured, and we are underway! The farm will have a new warming kitchen and rest room building in 2017 — with your help.

We still need to raise some funds.

This is a great way to make a difference with a financial contribution to something tangible and permanent.  This structure will upgrade our physical plant and will allow us to host catered affairs, do light food and meal prep for the store and events, provide the modern conveniences for staff and visitors, and more.

Click the link below to help us build in 2017!

You can also mail a check to the Nassau Land Trust, 2417 Jericho Turnpike, Garden City Park, NY 11040.  All contributions are 100% tax deductible.  The NLT is a New York State 501(c)(3) non-profit.  We receive no public money for running the farm and must therefore raise all funds necessary for operations and capital improvements.  Our break-even annual operating budget is about $250,000.

Want to get involved?  Want to make a difference at the farm and in your community?  We have a vibrant and well organized volunteer program.  Maybe this is the year for you to get get your hands in the dirt and to help sustain this unique and exciting project.  Without volunteers, we couldn’t get all the work done.  We are truly a community effort!

Click below for more information and to sign up.  Our next volunteer orientation is on Saturday, June 10th at 1:00 PM.

Many Thanks to Dean Tischer from Troop 24

Dean undertook building a new coop for our chickens living in the front pen for his Eagle Scout  service project. He did all the fund raising to purchase the building supplies and with the help of some of his troop members the coop was built and completed last weekend. Our chickens will soon be moving out of their old worn out coop and into this finely constructed new one.

Thanks again to Dean and Troop 24 for all their hard work!
