This Week’s Farm Update – May 5, 2017

About Us  |  Events

Thanks to All Who Made Our Opening Day Fundraiser a Success!
It rained on Saturday but the sun came out on Sunday so we were able to celebrate the season open of Crossroads Farm and also enjoy all the Earth Day activities that had been planned for Saturday. Thanks to all who ate, drank, played and had an overall wonderful time here at the farm. We appreciate your patronage, donations, sponsorship, and your participation in keeping this community gem shining.
A special thank you goes to our event planners Liz and Jen from  Funintended and our hard working volunteers that made Opening Day a success.
We are planning more fundraising events this season.  Next up, is the “Food Truck Rodeo” in June. Details will be posted as soon as they become available.
Crossroads Farm is operated by the  all volunteer board of the nonprofit Nassau Land Trust Inc. 501(c)(3). We receive no public funding. We rely solely on your support, farm stand sales, donations, grants, and fundraiser events to keep the operation going with the support of many great volunteers! #togetherwegrow To make a donation or get involved at the farm please visit our website.

Sunshine Days Summer Program is Back this August

Get Mother’s Day Gifts and Specialty Items This Week at the Farmstand

Purchase some handcrafted, cold pressed, artisanal soaps from Karmic Alchemy. The heart shaped soaps are a perfect little gift for mom.  The Rose-geranium, Lavender, and Blue Cornflower are scented with ginger grass and juniper berry. Additionally, the Lavender Lemongrass bar has ground lavender buds to aid in exfoliation and the goat milk soap is moisturizing and can be purchased unscented or in lavender. There’s body butter in original and lavender made with pumpkin seed butter, argan oil, and sunflower oil.

You can get mom some sweet treats from Papa’s Country Porch including pies and cookies. Also, back by popular demand, we will be getting a limited amount of Apple Cider Donuts on Mother’s Day weekend too. Don’t forget to come in early next weekend to make sure you don’t miss out.

And of course there’s always fresh local products and produce available Tuesday through Sunday at the farmstand.

We’ll have bouquets and more next weekend for Mother’s Day.

New Kitchen Building:  We Broke Ground!

The blueprints are off the drawing board, the foundation is poured, and we are underway! The farm will have a new warming kitchen and rest room building in 2017 — with your help.

We still need to raise some funds.

This is a great way to make a difference with a financial contribution to something tangible and permanent.  This structure will upgrade our physical plant and will allow us to host catered affairs, do light food and meal prep for the store and events, provide the modern conveniences for staff and visitors, and more.

Click the link below to help us build in 2017!

You can also mail a check to the Nassau Land Trust, 2417 Jericho Turnpike, Garden City Park, NY 11040.  All contributions are 100% tax deductible.  The NLT is a New York State 501(c)(3) non-profit.  We receive no public money for running the farm and must therefore raise all funds necessary for operations and capital improvements.  Our break-even annual operating budget is about $250,000.

Want to get involved?  Want to make a difference at the farm and in your community?  We have a vibrant and well organized volunteer program.  Maybe this is the year for you to get get your hands in the dirt and to help sustain this unique and exciting project.  Without volunteers, we couldn’t get all the work done.  We are truly a community effort!

Click below for more information and to sign up.  Our next volunteer orientation is on May 13th at 11:00 AM.

Welcome back all of our veteran volunteers!
